Lola Delourme

Hi, I’m a queer artist living and working in London, working with no fixed media to explore relationships with food and morality. Focusing how comfort and discomfort play against each other as a form of control. A key part of my practice is making the arts more accessible and approachable to everyone

CSM Profile

In order to symbolise the moment between desire and disgust I have been to working with shellfish. Shellfish and seafood has been used as a symbol of wealth and earthy pleasures in vanitas symbolism. Today they are often presented out on a platter. Decedent, luxury, and tasteful cuisine. Something to enjoy with others at a restaurant or part of an important meal. The glory of this food has a short timeline, as it soon becomes repulsive and poisonous. There’s a quick transition time before eating an oyster which has now gone off is extremely repulsive.

IS THIS A JOKE?
