I’m a London based fine artist currently in my final year studying Fine Art Painting at Central Saint Martins. My creative practice consists of mainly figurative oil paintings that address the notion of the female gaze through exploration of female agency and sexuality. I often work from found images interlinked with my own experience as a woman surrounded by women. By exploring numerous female identities and perspectives I attempt to tell a visual story of the female experience separate from the heteropatriarchal male gaze. Following centuries of objectification in depictions of women, I aim to reframe the representation of female figures in a way that is most comfortable to me and free from gendered voyeurism and spectatorship. I regularly paint women in various domestic settings or intimate spaces, allowing them to comfortably showcase their identities while being the active narrators of these portraits. More recently, I’ve been focusing on otherworldly themes leading me to work on an upcoming zodiac series. I’m aiming to diversify the target audience for zodiac themed work without erasing the queer and female communities who have paved the way for astrology the way we interact with it today.
